If you are like me, you love drugstore makeup. One school of thought is that you have to get high-end products to get high-end results. Well, think again. There are plenty of makeup products at the drugstore and mass retailers that are true gems. Instead of having to try out every product out there (although I do encourage playing with new products), I’ve organized a few amazing makeup products you need in your life. And if you can buy them while getting some grocery shopping done or galavanting in Target (it’s okay — we all do it), then why not give them a try?!
- Rimmel Stay Matte Primer
Calling all combination skin peeps out there — this is the primer you need in your makeup bag. I have dry skin, but my t-zone likes to jazz things up a bit with some shine. This primer is perfect for my dry/combination skin. This primer glides on smoothly, hydrates the skin giving a flawless, yet matte finish, and provides the perfect base for your makeup.
- Profusion Blush Palette
If you can get your hands on one of these puppies at your local Target, you won’t regret it. This palette comes with 6 gorgeous shades that work for multiple skin tones. And they. Blend. So. well. I was not expecting how well for it to blend and stay put throughout the day, seeing as it was only $6! The packaging is so-so, but the product is totally worth the buy.
- Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer
I know everyone and their third cousin has talked about this bronzer, but the hype is real. This bronzer glides on, provides the right amount of pigment, and blends like a dream. And the scent reminds you of a sunny day on the beach drinking a pina colada — not a bad thought to have in the middle of winter.
- L’oreal Lash Paradise
This is another highly raved about product and for good reason. This is by far one of the best mascaras at the drugstore. If there is any product you don’t need to buy high-end, it’s mascara. The drugstore offers an endless selection of fantastic mascaras, and this one is at the top of the list. Plus, my mom used to work for L’Oreal, so they are a favorite for me.
- Maybelline Dream Velvet Matte Foundation
I’ve only been using this foundation for a few months and it has impressed me so much that it made its way to this list. Kudos to Maybelline! This foundation gives medium to full coverage, a natural finish that works well for the dry and oily areas of my skin, and lasts all day. Set it with some powder and you’re bound for a great skin day.
