Valentine’s Date Night: DIY Movie Night

on

Valentine’s Day. A day filled with love, heart-shaped boxes of chocolate, and dates to the movies sitting elbow-to-elbow with other loved-up couples. But why spend your date night cramped in a movie theater when you can create the perfect movie night at home? Cozy up on Valentine’s Day with the ideal movie night that is thoughtful yet takes very little effort.

Start with the most essential item — a movie. Or, maybe even a few movies. Choose your significant other’s favorite flicks or something you’ve both been wanting to watch.

Next essential item that is debatably equally as important as what your watching — the popcorn. I decided to get a few different popcorn flavors from the brand Urban Accents. I went for savory and sweet and decided on the Asiago Peppercorn for the savory bowl and Kettle Corn for the sweet. If you’re feeling wild, mix the two. You won’t regret it!

Then, you need some drinks. I went for some yummy Guinness Floats. Simply take Vanilla ice cream, some chocolate syrup, and a Guinness stout. Combine them together and you get a delicious adult version of a childhood classic. Of course, you can always go with Root Beer, but where’s the fun in that?!

Lastly, get a few of your SO’s favorite candies and put an extra personal touch by making some DIY movie night tickets. I made mine using paper and washi tape. (Remember: Washi tape is your friend when you aren’t crafty. It will jazz up anything with ease.) You can even write a cute little note on them or the title of the movie you are watching to really make it special. I chose to write my sweet nothings in a card. And can we please take a moment to appreciate this card?! It’s adorable. The inside says, “I’d take endless refills of you, please.” So sweet and punny! I love it.

What do you do for your main squeeze on the day of love? Dinner out? Bowling? Nothing? Let me know! Any give this DIY movie night a shot, even if it’s not for Valentine’s Day. You don’t need a holiday to give you a reason to show the one you love just how much they mean to you.

Happy movie watching and popcorn popping!
