Product Review: Rimmel Stay Matte Fix & Go Setting Spray

on

I used to think setting sprays were unnecessary. I mean let’s be real — it’s a spray that you use before and after your makeup to somehow keep your makeup looking better for longer. Although that sounds nice, it’s kind of a bouche makeup product. All the other makeup products are more important because without them, the need for setting spray is null and void. And although that may be slightly true, I have actually come to love setting spray. It’s now an integral part in keeping my skin looking fresh and matte all day long. I think before I was using all the wrong setting sprays, but I came across the Rimmel Stay Matte Fix & Go Setting Spray a few months ago and I haven’t looked back since. Here’s a complete product breakdown and review of Rimmel’s Stay Matte Fix & Go Setting Spray.

Let’s kick it off with first impressions. The packaging isn’t anything to call home about. It’s what you would expect from a drugstore setting spray. What really blows you away is the the price. This primer and setting spray is only $5.99. Collective gasp. Pretty great, huh? I used this for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised with how my skin looked immediately after. With a few spritz, all the powder products I used looked seamless and natural. The scent is also very pleasant and not too strong.

I’ll be honest — I would’ve been happy with that. It made my makeup look good right after. Great! But as the day went on, I kept noticing how good my makeup looked. It kept oils at bay and my foundation still wasn’t breaking apart after a few hours. Needless to say, I was impressed. Months later, I use this to start off my makeup and after all of my face products are on (check out my process of keeping my makeup oil-free all day long). It’s perfect to start off your makeup routine with since it has ingredients that make it an easy-to-use makeup primer and it’s ideal for setting your makeup with thanks to the glycerin and fine mist. And the fine mist is something not to be taken for granted. So many drugstore setting sprays have a generic sprayer and it doesn’t give the fine mist needed for a flawless application. Luckily, Rimmel’s Stay Matte Fix & Go Primer and Setting Spray has a fine mister that is truly heavenly.

I cannot stress enough that this little $5.99 primer and setting spray has totally changed my makeup game and it will change yours, too. I can definitely recommend this setting spray to all skin types. It’s perfect for my oily/combination skin , but it isn’t drying. On your next Walgreens or Target trip, make a beeline for the makeup aisle and pick up the Rimmel Stay Matte Fix & Go Primer and Setting Spray. Your long-lasting, perfect looking makeup will make it worth the $5.99 price tag.
