Everyday Makeup Routine - Oak And James

Every girl needs a good go-to makeup look. It’s the look that you feel comfortable in every single day. Although I love to play around with makeup, I too have a tried-and-true, everyday makeup look. The products change here and there, but the look remains similar — a nice, light coverage base and a simple eye. It’s a classic. In an attempt to show you all how I do my makeup, I went a little GIF crazy. Maybe a Youtube video next time? Who knows. 😉

Foundation

To get my skin more even, I like using the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25HR Breathable Foundation. I am in the shade 100 Ivory (your girl is fair). It gives me light to medium coverage that is buildable if I so desire. I simply buff it onto my skin using the E.L.F Selfie Foundation Blush. Concealer

My undereye circles and blemishes need to disappear! I cover up any blemishes with the Maybelline Better Skin Concealer in “Light 20.” Next, I cover up those pesky dark circles with the Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer in “Light Natural 005.” This concealer makes my undereye circles completely disappear.

Hold up…COFFEE BREAK!

It was early in the morning, people! I need my coffee! Coffee = happiness.

Powder & Bronzer

I set my foundation and concealers with the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Powder in “120 Classic Ivory.” It’s the perfect powder to keep my skin shine free but not dry. Then, I bring some life back to my skin with the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer in “Bronzer” (really innovative name, huh?) This bronzer is ideal for bronzing the skin and contouring since it is matte. Plus, it looks very natural on the skin. Check out this bronzer on my Must-Have Drugstore Makeup Products blog post!

Blush & Highlight

I’ve been using the Profusion Blush Palette religiously for months. I use the shade “Playful” the most, but the shade “Great” is a beautiful shade for the winter months. Brows

I love doing my brows. It’s a weird obsession, but it’s just so calming. I use an eyeshadow (I know — it sounds crazy but it works!) from the Morphe 12NB palette. It’s the perfect neutral brown shade for my eyebrows and it lasts all day. I set them and forget them with the NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel in “Clear.” This ensures they stay in place and don’t start getting a mind of their own. And remember the number one rule for brows — they are sisters, not twins. Mine never completely match, but I don’t worry about it. It gives my face character, right? Right? RIGHT?! (worry slowly sets in)

Eyes

I love eye makeup. This is probably the part of my routine that changes the most. I love playing with new colors and combinations. When in doubt, I usually go for the NYX eyeshadow in “Dayclub In Ibiza.” I’ve been using this shade since high school and I still love it so much. It’s the most beautiful rose gold brown shade. It has never done me wrong, so I will continue to use it! I use it all over the lid and into the crease. To deepen the crease, I use the Morphe 9A Always Golden palette “Witness” shade. It’s the ideal medium warm brown color that blends like a dream. I also use this on my lower lash line for some added definition. Instead of a liner, I like using the shade “Taken”, a deep brown with a slight sheen, from that same Morphe 9A palette. It is softer than any liquid or gel liner and gives the perfect amount of depth to the look. Last but not least, the one thing I couldn’t live without when it comes to makeup — mascara. I use the L’oreal Lash Paradise Mascara in “Blackest Black.”

Lips

For me, an everyday makeup look can easily be finished with some good ole’ Chapstick or lip balm. But when I want something a little extra, I love using the Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lips. They have the most amazing formula. I’m thinking I may do a blog post on these. Thoughts? For today, I applied the shade “Zuma.” It’s far and away my most used shade because it is my perfect “my lips by better” color.
