After my recent reviews of the Trader Joe’s Sheet Mask and the Trader Joe’s Hair Mask, I figured it only made sense to continue my way down the Trader Joe’s beauty aisle and try out another product you all might be curious about. On a recent TJs trip, the product that caught my eye was the Trader Joe’s Blueberry & Acai Facial Scrub. This pretty little bottle in colorful, yet classic Trader Joe’s packaging looked interesting and was worth giving a shot. Let’s see if it really ended up working and if it’s worth picking up for yourself.
The first thing you notice about this facial scrub is the price. Can we praise the $5.99 price tag for a moment? But this price is classic Trader Joe’s — high-quality products at an affordable price that continually blows your mind. So the $5.99 price tag is perfect and it’s what I expect from TJ’s. The second thing you notice is the scent. As soon as you open the bottle, you smell blueberries. And I don’t mean a light fragrance of blueberries — I mean you just walked onto a blueberry farm it smells so much like fresh blueberries. It’s actually kind of crazy. You can really tell there are real blueberries in the facial scrub. For those of you who don’t like blueberries (why would you by this scrub?) or don’t like super strong scented products, this facial scrub might be a pass for you from the start. But I urge you to look past it. Why? Because this facial scrub is everything your skin has been wanting and needing.
The Trader Joe’s Blueberry & Acai Facial Scrub is FILLED with antioxidants and vitamins. Some of the many benefits of blueberries for skin include healing damaged skin, keeping skin looking youthful for longer, and controlling acne. Although eating blueberries will give you these benefits too, you also get the same benefits using it topically aka with this facial scrub. And let’s not forget about the acai berries. Acai promotes cell turnover, fights free radicals, and can help improve the appearance of existing wrinkles. So the blueberry and acai bases in the Trader Joe’s facial scrub are nothing short of heavenly for the skin. This facial scrub also has AHAs in it. AHA is an acid (nothing to be afraid of) that is ideal for keeping your skin youthful. Let’s just say the Trader Joe’s Blueberry & Acai Facial Scrub has the ingredients your current skincare routine might have been missing and needs.
Now onto the application. When you first dip your finger into this product, you might be surprised. It doesn’t feel super scruby. That’s because the natural scrubbing agent in this product, including actual blueberries and acai berries, are very fine. Plus, the consistency of the product is quite smooth in general. Although it may be strange at first, you will get a good, clean exfoliation from this product — it’s just much more gentle than let’s say the classic St. Ives Apricot Face Scrub. Because it’s so gentle and the product is quite creamy, this product is perfect for dry skin. It will give you the moisture you need and still exfoliate any dead skin off. But don’t get me wrong, I think this product is great for combo and oily skin, too. Mostly because of how gentle it is. It’s an ideal exfoliator for regular use, versus a much harsher scrub. I would recommend using this facial scrub twice a week to keep your skin looking healthy and youthful. Overall, the Trader Joe’s Blueberry & Acai Facial Scrub are a perfect addition to everyone’s skincare routine, no matter what skin type you have. The benefits that your skin get from this product are incredible and the price point makes it even better.
