Matte Lipsticks for Winter Under $6

on

I’ll openly admit that it’s taken me a long time to get comfortable wearing lipstick. I always thought it didn’t look good on me. But now I know what lipsticks work best on my skin tone, with certain outfits, and what finishes I prefer. I have grown to really love matte lipsticks. They are flattering on the lips, last for a long time, and are transfer-proof. All good things! And even though I love wearing matte lipsticks year-round, Winter is the perfect time to rock a fun lippie. It’s the ideal season for experimenting with different colors, but nude lipsticks still go well with the sweaters and coats in my closet. But with any of my lipsticks, I don’t want to break the bank. I stick to indie brands or drugstore brands because you can really find some great matte lipsticks to are comparable to high-end brands. Here are some of my favorite matte lipsticks for Winter under $6.

Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lip “Love Bite”

Let’s just go ahead and cut to the chase…this is my all-time favorite lipstick. No doubt about it. The Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lip formula is the formula of my dreams – it smooths your lips and blurs fine lines, it makes your lips look super luscious, and it lasts forever. It’s literally the best lipstick formula I have come across. But this color also happens to be my favorite. It’s my perfect nude lipstick shade with just an extra hint of pink. It goes with any and all outfits and it compliments my skin tone so well. I kid you not, I own 5 tubes of this lipstick. Why? Because it’s limited edition. Which totally kills me. But at least I have enough to last me awhile. A super close dupe for this is the Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lip in Zuma.

PS. I am going to wear this lipstick on my wedding day. I know I will. And I’m not even engaged. That’s how obsessed I am.

L’Oreal ColourRiche Matte Lipstick “Matte-sterpiece”

I’ve always been a big fan of L’Oreal. They are one of the best brands at the drugstore in nearly all categories. I’ve been loving their lipstick “Matte-sterpiece” for awhile now and it’s truly stunning. It’s a pinky nude that’s a little deeper than the Colourpop shade. It’s not transfer-proof, but it does last for a decent amount of time. And it might sound strange, but I love the smell of it. L’Oreal lipsticks have a very distinct scent and it totally reminds me of my mom. The greatest part about this formula is that it’s not drying at all – making it a perfect nude lipstick for colder weather ensuring your lips don’t get chapped.

Wet N’ Wild Liquid Catsuit Lipstick “Give Me Mocha”

Can you tell we are getting slightly darker in hue as we go? Good catch. This Wet N’ Wild lipstick is stunning. My favorite part about it is the shade itself – it’s the perfect dark mauve shade. It looks like a bolder mauve on lighter skin tones and looks like the ideal mauve nude shade on deeper skin tones. The formula is what you’d expect from a liquid lipstick – it lasts forever and goes on very opaque. It’s not super drying so it beats out a lot of other formulas at the drugstore.

Maybelline ColorSensational “Divine Wine”

Maybelline released this lipstick a few years ago and everyone was obsessed with it. Rightfully so because it was a deep wine shade from the drugstore that was actually really good. And it still is really good. It’s the perfect moody, dark lipstick for Winter to pair with a cateye and a cozy sweater. It has a slightly red hue to it and an ever so slight blue undertone which is perfect for making your teeth look whiter. Maybelline’s formula is also amazing. Out of all the drugstore brands, they win the lipstick category. And for only $5 each, you can stock up on some amazing lippies for all seasons.

Milani “Matte Flirty”

Similar to Maybelline’s “Divine Wine”, Milani’s “Matte Flirty” is a dark, moody lipstick that’s perfect for Winter. The tone is slightly different from Maybelline’s as it’s a bit more purple. When comparing the two, the Milani lipstick makes your teeth look even whiter thanks to that slightly more purple hue. The formula is stunning – long-lasting, creamy, and truly matte. You really can’t go wrong with this fun lippie.
